Abernathy
picked up his first camera at the
early age of thirteen and discovered a passion that has been with him
throughout his life. While still in his thirteenth year
he had his first photograph published and that was all it
took. He felt something that became a strong driving force
and he has been creating distinctive photographic works ever since. To
capture a moment in time, and preserve it for others to see became an
obsession. He has devoted his life to making images and trying to see
the world through the lens of a camera. Photography is not only his
profession, it is his way of life.
Abernathy
has won numerous awards with his
photography and has been published both nationally as well as
internationally. His western portraiture was seen in the American
Cowboy Magazine where his feature column, "Glimpses" ran. He has done
photography work for clients such as, Hard Copy, Chevrolet and
Marlboro. His images have ranged from troubled war torn countries to
the people and natural scenes in his home state of Wyoming.
Abernathy
constantly travels the globe
searching for
new images to capture, in fact, he is most at home when
he is on the road. He has been quoted several times saying, "There is
no such thing as a bad trip. If I make one image, or fill one page in
my journal, then the trip was a success."
For
Abernathy, photography is his way of
sharing how
he sees and interprets the world that we all live in. He
continues to expand his creativity in hopes of bringing
new perspectives of the world to his viewer. Though the
camera viewfinder is small, the artistic eye of photographer Dan
Abernathy is able to capture images that will broaden the views of
others.
