Tramp Stamp

I have always admired tattoos, even more so, I have always admired tattoos on woman. I like the erotic ink that makes you want to see more. A bright colored design seen peeking from under a piece of clothing is one of the most attractive sights there is. I know a beautiful woman that has a large red lilly tattooed on and below her belt line. I have only seen a very small portion of this flower, and it does not mater, what is visible is fantastic. Tattoos are not just a form of art, they are also a form of personal expression. For this reason alone I admire the person wearing them. A tattoo placed right can be a better accessory than anything purchased over a counter for accessorizing.
In the 1990’s a new tattoo on the lower back was introduced to the populous and became very popular among woman. Generally these back tattoos are oblong in shape, following the slope of the back on either side of the woman's spine. The lower back tattoo is nothing more than body decoration. It might be emphasizing sexual attractiveness, but so do clothes, jewelry and numerous other items adorned by woman. Lower back tattoos do nothing more than emphasize the shape and curvature of the female figure.
Having a tattoo on your lower back is actually a good place to have one. The lower back is not the widest area of the human back, but it has the space for a large design. Another advantage is that the lower back is less likely to stretch and distort due to minor weight fluctuations.
It is amazing how society can suddenly turn on something like a fad and then generalize thousands of people. It is ridiculous and only for the simple minded. This form of self-expression has been labeled a tramp stamp. A derogative term that is degrading to women, and frankly, it offends me. It is not even an original saying, the phrase "tramp stamp" came into play years ago when a woman received a hickey, via a necking interlude.
“A tattoo on the lower back of a female, denotes the perceived correlation between having a tattoo in this location and being sexually promiscuous. The larger the tramp stamp, the more promiscuous the female, goes the common lore.
Is it true that women with lower back tattoos are more promiscuous than those without? Some yes, and some women with long hair are more promiscuous than those with short hair. And some women with blue eyes are more likely to do drugs than women with brown eyes. These so-called scientific studies that supposedly prove a correlation between lower back tattoos and promiscuity are neither scientific nor accurate and usually verge on stupid. Granted, women who are already promiscuous may choose to get a lower back tattoo, but that does not mean women that are not promiscuous will never get a lower back tattoo.
But that doesn't mean there isn't any connection between lower back tattoos and sexuality. Woman who display tattoos on the sensual lower curvature of their backs – instead of covering it with high waistbands and low shirts – are expressing sensuality and sexual confidence. They are proud, confident individuals and I say good for them!
Women have long been oppressed whenever they have attempted to assert themselves sexually. Showing a little lower back, with or without ink, is no different than showing skin on other sensual areas of the body. In the 1800s, a woman would be considered immodest if she showed her shoulders or legs. The shocking pinups of the early 20th century, featuring bathing beauties in swimsuits that are laughably modest today, were considered positively pornographic. Even in the mid-1900s, "good girls" never showed cleavage! Fortunately, times have changed and women are freer to show skin without raising as many eyebrows, but that doesn't mean it never happens.
If you have a lower back tattoo, and if you choose to display it by wearing low-rise jeans, or crop tops, you do have to accept the fact that you are going to attract attention. People, especially men are going to look and there is nothing wrong with looking, just keep your manors intact. There is no shame in that as long as you can handle it. Asserting yourself as a strong, independent, sexually confident woman means being able to carry yourself in a dignified manner despite negative reactions.
So, while it may be true that there are those out there who will judge women with lower back tattoos and refer to them as "tramp stamps," there is no truth to the claim that these women are any more promiscuous than anyone else. If you are a woman wanting a lower back tattoo, go for it. If you're concerned about the people who will judge you for it, either toughen up or cover up. Embrace your Tramp Stamp and wear it with pride. And if you're one of the ignorant people spreading the "tramp stamp" rumors, well – consider yourself educated.
